Rob Letterman Confirmed To Direct Dungeons And Dragons Reboot

Just over a month after it was first reported, it seems we now have official confirmation that Rob Letterman will direct a reboot of ‘Dungeons and Dragons.’

Variety say that sources close to the film confirm Letterman’s attachment, and that a recent presentation to studio Warner Bros convinced them that the ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ and ‘Goosebumps’ director was the right person for the job.

This will be the second big screen take on the hugely popular role-playing game created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974.

The first ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ feature film, from director Courtney Solomon (on board the reboot as producer), was a critical and commercial flop on release in 2000.

The game has also inspired a slew of tie-in media, perhaps the most famous offshoot being the animated TV series in the 1980s.

The reboot has been written by David Leslie Johnson (’Wrath of the Titans’) and reportedly follows “a warrior and his band of mystical creatures – including a half-dragon and a cunning gnome – as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.”

No casting or release dates have been announced.
