Robert De Niro Eyed For The War With Grandpa

It looks as though Robert De Niro could star in ‘The War With Grandpa’.

According to The Wrap, the 72-year-old iconic American actor is in talks for a starring role in the upcoming adaptation of Robert Kimmel Smith’s novel, ‘The War With Grandpa’.

“Robert De Niro is in talks to join the cast of Dimension’s ‘The War With Grandpa’, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap,” they revealed. “Tim Hill is set to direct the adaptation of Robert Kimmel Smith’s novel.”

And it sounds as though he could be up for the role of Grandpa…

The original 1984 novel follows the story of 10-year-old Peter Stokes – a young boy who finds out that his recently-widowed grandfather will be coming to live with his family. But when the boy finds out that grandpa will be taking his bedroom, he plots a series of cunning pranks in an attempt to drive his grandad out of his home.

It’s unknown who will be joining De Niro to play the role of Peter.

Robert De Niro will next star in ‘Hands of Stone’ – a biographical sports film which charts the rise of boxing legend, Roberto Duran who defeated Sugar Ray Leonard for the WBC welterweight title in 1980.

De Niro is currently working on ‘The Comedian’ with Leslie Mann, as well as re-teaming with Martin Scorsese for ‘The Irishman’ which he is also producing.

‘The War With Grandpa’ heads to cinemas sometime in 2017 .
