Robert Downey Jr’s happy birthday message to Tom Holland is just beautiful
Robert Downey Jr has taken to Twitter to wish Tom Holland a happy 23rd birthday, and by doing so the Avengers: Endgame star immediately reduced Twitter to a blubbering mess. Here’s why…

Those of you that have been keeping up to date with the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be very much aware that Downey Jr’s Iron Man has played an integral, very fatherly role in Tom Holland’s trajectory as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War and, most recently, Endgame.
So the sight of Downey Jr writing such a heartfelt, yet still hilarious, happy birthday message to Holland was always going to make the internet feel all of the feels in unison.
WARNING: There are SPOILERS ahead for Avengers: Endgame. So if you’ve still not seen the Marvel blockbuster then, firstly, I’m not even sure what you’re doing here. But, most importantly, please don’t read ahead.
It was the endings of both Infinity War and Endgame that really solidified their relationship, though. That’s because Iron Man had to watch Spider-Man being reduced to dust by Thanos in the former, while Spider-Man then saw Iron Man die in the latter, but only after he the metallic superhero had killed Thanos and his army.

We’ll see if he can do just that when Spider-Man: Far From Home is released on July 2.
