Yahoo Movies Robert Pattinson lands next lead movie role in horror remake
Robert Pattinson has landed his next lead movie role in a remake of cult classic horror film Possession.
Smile filmmaker Parker Finn will direct the picture, which has sparked a bidding war among Hollywood studios (per The Hollywood Reporter).
Finn will write the script, direct and produce the film through Bad Feeling. Pattinson will produce via his production company Icki Eneo Arlo alongside Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee.
Originally written and directed by Andrzej Żuławski, Possession was released in 1981 and follows international spy Mark (Sam Neill), who returns from the field to find wife Anna (Isabella Adjani) wants a divorce.

The news devastates Mark, with him hiring a private investigator to follow her after a series of violent confrontations. Anna slowly descends into madness and it soon becomes clear that she is hiding something.
Żuławski created the film as a meditation on his own crumbling marriage and, despite a lukewarm reception at the time of its release, Possession went on to become a cult classic, revered among critics and genre fans.
Adjani won the Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or, Cesar Award, and a Fantasporto accolade for her performance as Anna, while Żuławski won the Film Critics Prize at the 1981 São Paulo International Film Festival.
Finn will hit our screens later this year with the release of Smile 2, the sequel to his breakout 2022 film.

The first film told the story of a therapist named Rose (Sosie Bacon), haunted by a patient's suicide, and an entity bearing an unnatural grin that triggers a series of nightmarish events.
Kyle Gallner, who played Rose's ex Joel in Smile, is set to return for the sequel alongside Aladdin's Naomi Scott in the lead role.
Pattinson is next set to star in Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon-ho, which comes to our screens in 2025 after being delayed.
Loosely based on Edward Ashton's 2022 novel Mickey7, the story centres on an expendable employee sent on an expedition to colonise the deadly ice planet Niflheim.
