According to Variety, the movie will see Watts take on the role of Gertrude Bell, renowned English writer, explorer and archaeologist, while Pattinson is attached to play T.E. Lawrence, the British army officer and writer who became known as Lawrence of Arabia.

Lawrence was a close friend to Bell, who was one of the first female Oxford graduates, and the pair helped establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq.

It’s certainly a brave move for Pattinson to take on the role made famous by Peter O’Toole in the classic 1962 epic ‘Lawrence of Arabia’. O’Toole’s performance made him a global star.

The film will start shooting this autumn.
