Rocketman and Kingsman star Taron Egerton has replaced The Batman's Robert Pattinson in an upcoming romantic drama thriller titled The Stars at Noon.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the former Twilight saga actor has had to step down from the film due to scheduling conflicts.

The role in question is a man who works for a dodgy British oil company and meets a struggling female reporter in a hotel bar, and they become "entangled".

The film is set in the Central American country Nicaragua during a period of political turmoil and violence. The novel it's based on was released in 1980.

The movie is being directed by Claire Denis, who previously worked with Pattinson on High Life, a science-fiction horror film from 2018. The people behind the project have taken it to Cannes to find buyers.

Egerton has a few projects in store for Apple. Earlier this year, it was announced that he will lead a six-part TV crime series called In with the Devil, as well as a movie about the creation and rise of iconic video game Tetris.

Of course, there's a third Kingsman film in the planning, but we don't know when it will start production.
