Yahoo Movies Rogue One's deleted scenes won't be on the Blu-ray
If you were hoping that the long-awaited Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Blu-ray would include those deleted scenes, we've got a bit of bad news for you.
According to director Gareth Edwards, the Blu-ray and digital release will omit all of the alternate scenes we might have caught a glimpse of in trailers and teasers. Boo.
In an interview with Fandango, Edwards explained that while fans will be missing out on never-before-seen footage, they're more "come and go" moments than entire sequences.
"There are little things that would come and go during the process of post-production, but they're not scenes," he revealed. "They're more moments within the scenes, or a single shot."
Adding that it would be "impossible" to include those moments, Gareth said: "They're moments within scenes and threads, and you pull a thread and it all changes. It was changing the whole time.
"It's not like there was one version and then there was this other version - it was like this thing that incrementally evolved constantly through all of post-production."
Referring to the alternate final battle on Scarif involving Jyn and other rebels, Gareth admitted that the visual effects were "never finished" on the scene.
"It's not like there's something sitting somewhere. I feel like making a film is like a sport where someone blows a whistle and that's it - the score is what it is."
But what a score it was. Rogue One managed to reach that all-important billion dollar mark on just its 39th day in theatres, making it the fourth film in 2016 to gross over $1 billion.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be able to bring home on DVD, 3D Blu-ray and digital download on Monday, April 10 in the UK.
While it won't feature any coveted unseen footage, it will be packed with a whole host of exciting extras, including documentaries, Easter eggs and the exciting Epilogue: The Story Continues, which will preview the future of the Star Wars franchise.
