In recent years, the royal family has begun to release time-honored recipes from the palace's kitchens, so that fans of the Windsors can recreate royal-approved dishes at home. The latest such revelation? The royal chefs' method for whipping up a traditional Christmas pudding.

The recipe was posted on the royal family's official Instagram account, along with a step-by-step how-to video. "Today is Stir-up Sunday: traditionally the day when home cooks ‘stir up’ their Christmas pudding mixture on the Sunday before the Advent season—and the countdown to Christmas—begins," the caption explained. "This year, chefs in the Royal kitchens have shared their recipe for a traditional Christmas pudding. We hope that some of you enjoy making it in your own homes."

The recipe calls for the dry ingredients to be mixed together first, and then to add the eggs and alcohol before placing the pudding mix in bowls, covering them with parchment paper and muslin, and heating them in a saucepan. Get the full instructions and ingredient list below.

An added benefit of this recipe is that it's designed to be pre-made—rather than adding it to a Christmas Day to-do list, simply make it in advance and reheat. As the caption explains, "On Christmas Day, reheat your pudding in a bain-marie for 3-4 hours. Remove from the basin using a rounded knife or palette knife, flip out onto a plate, garnish or flambé and serve with brandy sauce and cream."
