Rupert Grint aka Ron Weasley has revealed the Harry Potter franchise became 'suffocating', after taking over his life for 10 years.

After being relatively removed from the spotlight for years, the actor has been shedding more light on his career and life of late. First came the happy news that he was a father for the first time, before Rupert, 32, the joined Instagram. He later divulged that he hasn't actually seen all of the Harry Potter films.

Now, in a new interview on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast (via Mirror), Rupert has touched on one of the low points of being involved in the Magical Wizarding World, and how Harry Potter actually took over his life.

"There was a time where it felt quite suffocating, because it was heavy going, because it was every day for 10 years in the end," he said of his stint as Ron Weasley between 2001 and 2011.

"It just never ended," Rupert candidly admitted. "Every year, we came back. And it was kind of like Groundhog Day because it was the same sets. Sometimes it definitely felt like, ‘I want to do something else. See what else is out there'."

The actor added that they initially only signed on for two films, and ended up making eight. That said, it sounds like it was a genuinely nice place to be, even if it did feel a bit much sometimes.

"It was a great experience," Rupert, who was 13 when the first film started. "Such a nice kind of family atmosphere. It was always the same crew we kind of grew up with, so it was a great place to be."
