Russell Crowe: Jor-El not in Batman vs. Superman (Exclusive)
Actor confirms that he won't reprise Man of Steel role.
Sad news for those of us who rather enjoyed Russell Crowe’s turn as Jor-El in ‘Man of Steel’ – he won’t be back for ‘Batman vs. Superman’.
The actor told Yahoo Movies while he was promoting ‘Noah’, “I don’t think they’re going to use me again. I think they’re jumping onto a different stream.”
[Could Batman vs. Superman tie into the Dark Knight trilogy?]
Referring to the first cinematic meeting between Superman and Batman in the upcoming film, he said: “You know, they’re going with the different superhero worlds colliding [this time].”
We’re not sure how this precludes a holographic Jor-El in the film, but Crowe seems adamant that he’s done with the sereis for now, though we hope the rumoured prequels could still materialise.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ will see Henry Cavill return as Jor-El’s son Clark, while Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman. Earlier this year Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons were cast as Lex Luthor and Alfred Pennyworth, respectively, while Gal Gadot has also joined the project as Wonder Woman.
The release date for the Crowe-less ‘Batman vs. Superman’ is May 6, 2016, while ‘Noah’ is in cinemas from April 4.
