Summit announce casting news for Fresnadillo's reboot

It’s official: Ryan Reynolds will play Connor MacLeod in the ‘Highlander’ remake.

Studio Summit announced the casting news, which has been rumoured for a few weeks now.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directs the remake of the 1986 sci-fi classic, which starred Christopher Lambert as an immortal Scottish warrior who must defeat Clancy Brown’s The Kurgan. Sean Connery played a supporting role.

We don’t know loads about the new version, but Fresnadillo’s work on ‘28 Weeks Later’ was top notch and it’s about time Reynolds became a huge movie star. Maybe ‘Highlander’ will do the trick.

He’s possibly got a ‘Deadpool’ movie coming up (though this is not confirmed), and recently starred in ‘Safe House’ and ‘The Green Lantern’.

The original ‘Highlander’ spawned four increasingly terrible sequels.

The reboot’s been in the works since 2008, with ‘Iron Man’ scribe Matt Holloway writing the script.
