An update was posted on Twitter yesterday (March 23) by the actor himself, and yes, he was in typically sarcastic form in the video as he announced the delay.
Reynolds confirmed that Free Guy – which also stars Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Thor: Love and Thunder's Taika Waititi – will now arrive on August 13, although exact international dates are yet to be confirmed.
"Hey guys," the actor said in the clip. "Awesome news: we have a new release date for Free Guy... what?! That's great. I know we've had a couple of hiccups but this time it's 100% locked in.
"I've never been so sure of anything in my entire life as long as I live. I'm so thrilled to share this new date with you all, here it is: the new release date is August 13, see you all in theatres August 13.
"And this one we feel very good about, I mean unless of course the..." he added before cutting out.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the comedy action film follows bank teller Guy (Reynolds), who one day discovers he's a background character in an open-world game titled Free City, which will soon be taken offline.
Free Guy will hit the big screen on August 13.
