Sackhoff joins 'female Expendables' cast

Battlestar Galactica star is reportedly on board the project

'Battlestar Galactica' star Katee Sackhoff has joined the cast of the planned female take on 'The Expendables', according to reports.

Sackhoff joins Gina Carano on the project, a former star on 'American Gladiators' and mixed martial arts expert.

There's little information on the project other than the concept and that, according to Variety magazine, 'several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre continue to circle the project'.

Sackhoff's previous form in the action genre is encouraging, however, having played Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace in 'Battlestar Galactica', alongside roles in '24' and 'Bionic Woman'.

"If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars," said the project's producer Adi Shankar, who also produced 'The Grey', 'Killing Them Softly' and 'Dredd 3D'.

Sackhoff has also snagged a role on the next 'Chronicles of Riddick' film, with Vin Diesel and Karl Urban.
