Sajid Javid eliminated from the Tory leadership race as Boris Johnson again topped the ballot

Sajid Javid is the latest candidate to be eliminated from the Tory leadership race as Boris Johnson again topped the ballot of Conservative MPs.

Here are the results of the fourth ballot in the Tory leadership contest:

– Boris Johnson: 157

– Michael Gove: 61

– Jeremy Hunt: 59

– Sajid Javid: 34

There were two spoiled ballots.

Mr Johnson's total of 157 votes represents exactly half of the Parliamentary Conservative Party.

Mr Hunt has now slipped behind Mr Gove, as the latter picked up 10 new votes while the former only picked up five.

Mr Johnson reacted to his latest victory on Twitter:

Michael Gove also expressed how pleased he was at the outcome:

After being knocked out of the leadership race, Sajid Javid tweeted: "Truly humbled by the support I have received from colleagues and Conservatives around the country. We ran to win, but I am incredibly proud of the race we have run together – #TeamSaj! Thank you."

Following a final ballot of MPs this evening, the remaining two MPs will go forward into a run-off of the party's 160,000 or so members.

The winner, and new Prime Minister, will be announced in the week of 22 July.
