If you’re looking for an Internet-connected 4k HDR TV with a price tag that’s nigh on impossible to resist, then let me reacquaint you with Samsung’s Crystal UHD TU7020.

We’ve featured this smart telly before in one of our weekly Best Buy bargain hunts, but not at this smaller screen size - and this downsized version is well worth revisiting.

It’s a best seller for Samsung with good reason: currently available for £379 on Currys PC World, its bang for buck is immense.

Why it's expert-approved

The Crystal UHD line-up is one step down from Samsung’s premium QLED models, but offers much the same functionality for considerably less cash. If you suspect you might want to go up a size or two, the same model is available in 50, 55, 65, 70 and 75-inch screen sizes.

That said, we reckon this TU7020 is just the ticket if you’re looking for a bijou do-it-all smart screen.

Key to its appeal is Samsung’s highly versatile Tizen smart platform, which offers a full complement of streaming apps, including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV and Now, plus all the mainstream catch-up TV services, better known as BBC iPlayer, My5, All4 and ITV Hub.

Pictures on this 43-incher are reassuringly sharp thanks to Samsung’s 4k Crystal processor, and have more pop than Schweppes. The TV supports HDR, which adds an extra level of depth to images - small things, like street lights, headlights and vibranium shields, twinkle believably when watching HDR shows like Marvel’s Falcon & The Winter Soldier.

If you’ve invested in some of Samsung’s SmartThings smart home tech, you can also manage that onscreen. There’s even voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The set doesn’t just look good with trending TV from streaming services, it’s also a great option if you want to hook up a games console (there are two HDMI inputs available). Use the Game setting for minimum input lag, if you want to stay alive when things get frantic in Fortnite.

What the reviews say

The TU7020 currently enjoys an impressive 9 out of 10 rating from Currys buyers, who offer these comments...

  • “Well packaged, slimline and not too heavy to put on the wall. Good picture quality even for streaming videos or internet.”

  • “It's beautiful aesthetically, the image quality and clarity is so amazing and the sound is great too!”

  • “Really happy with it, would definitely get another if I ever needed a 2nd TV.”

  • “Fantastic value, great picture and easy to set up.”

  • "Graphics are fantastic, quite fast as well compared to some TVs out there."
