Samsung’s 2021 flagship Neo QLED QN95A 4K TV has arrived in stores, and it’s amazing. We’ve had a review sample on the Yahoo test bench, and it might well be the best bright-room TV we’ve ever seen.

That’s largely because it uses revolutionary Mini-LED technology. Instead of the traditional LCD backlight, it uses a multitude of tiny LED lights which allows for much more precise contrast control and HDR highlights.

Simply put, the picture dazzles. Even if you watch in a brightly lit room, colours maintain their vibrancy. It makes Coronation Street look like the Rio Carnival, and will bring the upcoming Euros to life like never before.

Why we love it

Handling fine detail and texture is an advanced AI-powered Neo Quantum 4K processor, with Deep Learning.

There might be a lot of heavy tech at work here, but all you have to do is engage Intelligent Mode and let the telly optimise whatever you’re watching.

This is also the first QLED TV we’ve seen able to rival OLED TVs for deep blacks, good news for movie night.

When it comes to design, the QN95A is suitably premium. It’s just 25.9mm deep, with a tiny bezel and central pedestal.

If you want to wall hang your TV, this Samsung makes life easy. Rather than connect aerial, set top box, and games console to the TV itself, you plug them into a One Connect Box, which is a separate gizmo that connects to TV set using a fibre optic cable. This thin cable also supplies power, which really simplifies wall-mounting.

The One Connect Box offers four HDMIs ports, all to the latest spec. There’s also Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support, with Apple Airplay 2 compatibility. If you own a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, there’s also a new onscreen Game Bar, which groups all gaming settings in one place, for easy tweaking.

The QN95A ships with two remote controls, a standard zapper and a slim line alternative that has a solar cell panel which charges using indoor lighting, so no more battery replacements are required.

Naturally this top-end TV has all the top streaming apps too, including Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+, not to mention the regular catch-up services.

Even the TV sound system is impressive, thanks to Samsung’s eight-channel OTS+ sound system.

The QN95A is available in 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch screen sizes (QE55QN95A, QE65QN95A, QE75QN95A and QE85QN95A). We auditioned the 55-incher, which is currently available from Currys for £1,999 (a £200 saving off launch price). The QN95A may be pricey, but it’s also one of the best TVs you’ll see all year.
