Samuel L Jackson Has A Problem With Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Samuel L Jackson’s Mace Windu might have been the best thing to come out of the ‘Star Wars’ prequels. So, anything that the legendary actor has to say regarding the franchise is always worth hearing.

And it turns out that, despite the near universal acclaim its received, Jackson had a problem with at least one certain aspect of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awaken’, insisting that he wasn’t overly happy with the lightsaber battles.

Jackson, who is currently doing the rounds to promote ‘The Hateful Eight’, made this admission on Popcorn With Peter Travers, stating that the likes of Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega “need to go to lightsaber fight school.”

But while Jackson thinks that the new stars haven’t made the best start to their lightsaber antics he insists that they’ve still “got time to get better,” as their on board for at least two ‘Star Wars’ sequels.

It really didn’t seem like Samuel L Jackson was that enamoured with ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ at all. Because after being asked for his response to J.J. Abrams’ triumphant seventh instalment to the series the actor simply shrugged and went, “It’s done in the same spirit of the ‘Star Wars’ film.”

Jackson carried on his rather diplomatic answer with, “It’s got the same spirit, it’s adventuresome, it’s exciting in a way.”

Despite Samuel L Jackson’s thoughts, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is having a relatively successful time of it at the box office, having just become the most successful film ever in the USA. Rather greedily, it’s still in cinemas now too.
