Sandra Bullock Is 'Most Beautiful' Woman

Sandra Bullock has been named People Magazine's most beautiful woman, becoming the oldest person to receive the honour.

At 50, the Oscar-winner is eight years older than Julia Roberts when she took the title in 2010, aged 42.

In an interview with the US magazine, Bullock admitted she was surprised at her win. "I just said, 'That's ridiculous.' I've told no one," she said.

Bullock has been in the film industry for more than 20 years. She made her breakthrough in 1994's Speed alongside Keanu Reeves.

She went on to appear in romantic comedies such as Two Weeks Notice and The Proposal, and played an undercover FBI agent in Miss Congeniality.

But it was a role in the 2009 sports drama The Blind Side which brought her critical acclaim and she went on to win the best actress Oscar and a Golden Globe.

Bullock was nominated for another Academy Award last year for the Oscar-winning film Gravity. In 2014 she topped Forbes list of the highest-earning actresses .

The Hollywood star, who has a five-year-old adopted son, Louis, told People magazine there was more to beauty than someone's youth and physical appearance.

"Real beauty is quiet. Especially in this town, it's just so hard not to say, 'Oh, I need to look like that'," she said.

"No, be a good person, be a good mom, do a good job with the lunch, let someone cut in front of you who looks like they're in a bigger hurry. The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren't trying."

In its 25-year history, People Magazine has also awarded the "most beautiful" honour to a handful of men, including Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio.
