Currently, very little is known about Scoot McNairy’s character in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’. Some rumours have suggested that he could be playing an older Jimmy Olsen. Others have teased he’ll be Superman foe Metallo.
All that we actually know is that one leaked picture of NcNairy on the set of ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ featured him wearing green-screen socks over his legs. Make of that what you will.
And during a discussion with USA Today, McNairy didn’t clean up any of the intrigue over his character. In fact he might have even added to the confusion.
“It’s definitely 100% a character I’ve never played and I can’t speak too freely on it, but yeah, getting into that thing was definitely something I had to wrap my head around emotionally in order to play that character,” he explained.
Does that suggest he will be portraying a villain? Perhaps. McNairy has played shady characters in the past, especially in ‘Killing Them Softly’ and ‘Non-Stop.’ But his ‘Argo’ and ‘Monsters’ protagonists prove he is more adept at portraying complex individuals you can’t help but root for.
In fact McNairy’s next remarks suggest that he will be playing a villain that allows him to truly ham it up as an actor.
“But with that being said, I had a lot of fun doing it when I was in the process of shooting on it,” he continued, “my head was in a different place but I’m really excited to see how it turns out and what they do with it and see the film.”
It’s been over five months since McNairy was confirmed in the blockbuster, and the speculation over his role is only going to get more and more outlandish until Warner Bros. finally declare who he’s portraying.
Whoever McNairy is in the film, he is almost certainly going to enhance the blockbuster with his presence. Just like he’s done with every other film he has starred in.
We’ll see just how good McNairy is in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ when it hits cinemas on March 25, 2016.
