The latest version of Ghostface hasn't changed much since the original '96 movie, fans will be pleased to know, with the killer looking just as sinister as ever in that iconic, Edvard Munch-inspired mask.
Sound mixer Greg Russell gave fans a sneak peek at a few stills from the upcoming title on Instagram, revealing post-production shots of a Ghostface close-up and a woman holding her phone.
Telling fans that he had a "blast" working on Scream, Russell also praised the "super fun filmmakers" and the movie's "very cool score". We wouldn't have expected anything less.
Featuring the return of original stars David Arquette, Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell, Scream promises to pay tribute to original director Wes Craven and his vision, while also introducing a whole new legion of fans to the cult series with a new cast.
Explaining how the upcoming movie is not just Scream 5, Courteney – who is set to reprise her role of Gale Weathers – recently described Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett's entry as "a brand new launch".
"This is Scream. These directors, I mean god, the directors are just incredible," she teased. "It's a new franchise. It's hip, it's scary, it's just a new Scream. It's not a reboot, it's not a remake, it's just a brand new launch. I think it's gonna be fantastic."
Scream will hit cinemas on January 14, 2022.
