Scream TV Show To Re-Enact Classic Film's Opening

It’s been revealed the upcoming ‘Scream’ TV series will recreate the famous opening from the 1996 slasher.

In the big-screen classic, Drew Barrymore’s Casey is killed off in the opening few minutes, which is one of the most iconic, defining moments of all slashers from the 90s.

A confirmed report has verified that Bella Thorne (‘Blended’; ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’) has been secretly cast for the show as Nina, but insists her time on it will be short-lived, as her character will suffer the same ill-fate as Barrymore’s.

When quizzed about it during a recent Yahoo! Celebrity Facebook chat, the actress said, “Yes it is true. I will re-enact the famous scene of Drew Barrymore in the original series.”

The adapted series is set to revolve around a YouTube viral video that goes awry, which impacts on high school teen Aubrey Jensen (played by Bex Taylor-Klaus), who serves as the show’s main character.

There’s not a lot to go on plot-wise at present, but we do know that original ‘Scream’ scribe Kevin Williamson won’t be involved with the project.

It also poses more questions regarding the show’s killer, Ghostface, and whether the series is rebooting from scratch, or if this is another copycat killer-style dose of satire that fans of the franchise have grown to love (and eventually loathe) over the years.
