Secret Invasion's latest episode saw the fight against rebel leader Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) come to a head, and it ends on the dramatic moment where Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) is killed by the villain.

Fans of the show were understandably shocked by the outcome, and they shared their thoughts on social media as they tried to come to terms with the loss.

One viewer wrote: "Watched Beloved episode of #SecretInvasion. My jaw dropped. How can Fury leave Talos just like that?"

One viewer said of Talos' death: "Talos isn’t dead, HES NOT! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT!!"

Another person wrote: "Best episode of the show so far. I can’t believe they just did that at the end too. Wtaf! #SecretInvasion The two scenes with Fury this episode with his wife and Rhody are fantastic. He’s always two steps ahead.

But it wasn't just Talos' demise that surprised viewers, as the episode also revealed that James "Rhodey" Rhodes, played by Don Cheadle, is actually a Skrull.

Cheadle took over the role from Terrance Howard in 2010's Iron Man 2, which lead some to wonder if that was the exact moment the Skrull replaced Rhodey.

One person said of the episode: "I find it odd that he mentioned he's known of the Skrulls for 15 years... 15 years is the exact time frame when Iron Man 2 released... think it's also notable that Don Cheadle came in at the same exact time as Rhody and replaced Terrance Howard"

There was one MCU fan who wondered: "So when was Rhodey replaced is the biggest question. When he first appeared in Iron Man 2? Did he actually die in German[y during Captain America: Civil War]? Just before he became assistant to the President? Or 5 minutes b-4 #SecretInvasion?"

While one viewer added: "Damn another banger episode. Love all this character development we’re getting from Fury. And Don Cheadle is such a good actor."

While there was another fan who said, "I was soooooo right on the money about Rhody being a Skrull but if that's a Skrull where is the real Rhody?"

Another viewer joked, "It won't happen but can you imagine if at the end of #SecretInvasion they find the real Rhodey and it turns out to be Terrance Howard lol"
