Lisa Blair and Michelle Blair Ontonovich were just four months old when they landed their first acting role opposite Tom Selleck, Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg.

It would actually be their only acting role – playing the baby Mary in the classic ‘Three Men and a Baby’ back in 1987.

Now 27, the identical twins, who took turns appearing on screen, have appeared on US TV to talk about how the movie affected their lives.

At the time, they couldn’t have chosen three more bankable stars to play opposite, with the film going on to be the highest-grossing of the year.

Michelle, who now works in insurance, told the ‘Today’ show: “When we were little, it wasn’t a big deal to us at all. I think it was when we became teenagers and people started coming up to us a lot more.”

“And asking us for our autograph and everything,” added sister Lisa.

Chipped in mum Geriann, who put the twins up for the role: “I was just bored at home on [maternity] leave and I heard about this casting call. I thought it was just a scene in a movie, I had no idea it was a big major motion production.”

She also revealed how Michelle relieved herself on Tom Selleck on set, while he was holding her without a nappy on.

“’He looked over at me and said, ‘Is this safe?’” said Geriann, “and I said, ‘Oh, I don’t know.’ And then, there she goes, sure enough! So that was a real shock.”

The movie, which was directed by ‘Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy, was a smash, pummelling competition from the likes of ‘Fatal Attraction’, ‘Beverley Hills Cop II’ and ‘Good Morning Vietnam’.

It managed to gross a massive $167 million (£98.3 million) in the US alone, about $409 million (£241 million) in today’s money, on a budget of just $11 million.
