Selena Gomez's tattoo artist shares details of new religious ink

Selena Gomez's tattoo artist has shared details of her new religious ink.

The American tattoo artist Bang Bang, real name Keith Scott McCurdy, revealed that the 28-year-old singer came to his parlour in New York earlier this month with big ideas for a large design located on her body.

In a black-and-white clip shared on Instagram, Selena can be seen wearing a white face mask as Bang Bang unveils the new ink – a small black cross on her collarbone – and he spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the intricate and meaningful design.

"She loved it. No pressure though, right? It’s right on her collarbone where everyone will see. It’s a couple straight lines and it looks easy. But I was sweating," he explained, adding that she was with a group of friends when she got the ink.

"She told me she was filming in NY and was here for a couple more weeks. She thought she maybe wanted something big. I get this a lot. I showed her a couple (cross) designs that were larger and photoshopped them onto her body. We did a bunch of renderings imposed on different body parts," Bang Bang shared.

"Tattoos are a really deeply emotional thing. When someone gets a tattoo that’s in any way religious, I don’t even need to ask. I know that this tattoo is giving them power, and I like to be part of that," he stated.

He's worked with the Lose You To Love Me hitmaker over the last few years, and he's designed around eight to 10 tattoos for the singer which are "hidden throughout her body."

And he was full of praise for the singer's pain threshold.

"A collarbone is a little more sensitive than some other areas on the body. But she’s tough and never makes a peep," he noted.
