Serial Producers Working On Two New Stories

Serial Producers Working On Two New Stories

There is good news for fans of hit podcast Serial after its producers announced they are making two new series.

National Public Radio have said they are hoping to launch season two this autumn and season three in the spring.

"We are hard at work reporting not one, but two distinct new stories," they said.

A second series was almost inevitable after episodes for the first series were downloaded over 76 million times.

Listeners followed Sarah Koenig as she investigated the case of Adnan Syed, a young man who was jailed for life for killing his ex-girlfriend.

Syed, who has maintained his innocence in the strangulation of Hae Min Lee in 1999, was granted a request for review by Maryland's Court of Special Appeals earlier this month after Serial dissected the evidence against him.

As Serial's popularity took off in November 2014, its producers announced plans for a second series but admitted they would be relying on cash donations and sponsorship for it to go ahead.
