Seth Rogen to produce new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' CG reboot movie

Seth Rogen is joining with Nickelodeon’s animation studio to reboot the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a new CGI movie, according to reports.

Point Grey Pictures, run by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, will produce the movie, with Gravity Falls director Jeff Rowe directing, says Deadline.

Brendan O'Brien, who has penned bawdier fair like Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and the Rogen-made Neighbors: Sorority Rising, will be writing the script.

It's not the first time that Rogen's Point Grey has leapt into the world of animation.

Though it's perhaps likely that the TMNT reboot will be more family-friendly than 2016's adult comedy Sausage Party.

The turtles, or 'heroes in a half shell', were last seen on screen in 2016's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, the sequel to the 2014 reboot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Those movies were made by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company, and used actors Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson and Noel Fisher in motion-capture roles, with Johnny Knoxville not in motion capture, but voicing turtle leader Leonardo.

Megan Fox also starred as April O'Neil, with Tony Shalhoub voicing mutant rat Splinter, sensei to the Turtles.

The first movie profited with a box office haul of nearly $500 million, though the second bombed, making $245 million, losing the studio at least $75 million.
