Yahoo Movies Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood lands next lead movie role
Sex Education star Aimee Lee Wood has joined the cast of The Gambler Wife.
The BAFTA-winning actor will also appear alongside The House That Jack Built's Matt Dillon in the film, adapted from Andrew D Kaufman’s book The Gambler Wife: A True Story of Love, Risk and the Woman Who Saved Dostoyevsky.
Wood is taking on the lead role of Anna, who is pregnant, while Dillon plays Anna's novelist husband Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Directed by Infinite Storm's Małgorzata Szumowska, the film follows the couple as they set off for their honeymoon in Switzerland.

Fyodor struggles with a gambling addiction, and this "continues to cause problems for the couple until they are forced to return to a Russia that is not quite as they remember".
On joining the cast, Wood said she was "overjoyed" to be working with the "singular Malgo" on the project.
She continued: "Her work hits me right in the heart and gut. She has such a wonderful ability to combine searingly truthful humanity with dream-like magic.
"Within reading the first few pages of the brilliant script, I felt beyond excited to play Anna and bring to life her mix of stoicism, eccentricity, mischief and wisdom. And I can’t think of anyone better to play Dostoevsky than Matt. I’m thrilled!"
Dillon echoed her sentiments, saying he is "really excited to be a part of this project and to be working with Malgo to bring this incredible character to life".
Wood's leading role in this movie comes after starring opposite Bill Nighy in Living.
Last year, she told Digital Spy about her interest in doing more movies, explaining: "I really, really want to do films. Films were where it all started for me."
In March, Wood gave an update on Sex Education season 4, while discussing what her character Aimee Gibbs will get up to without Maeve.

"Aimee finds 'art'," the star teased. "She discovers that she’s a bit of an artist, and I love that, because for the whole of the time, she’s always been made to feel like she isn’t clever, she hasn’t got anything really interesting to say, she’s always saying the wrong thing.
"But she just thinks in a different way to everyone else and she’s on a different plane, and she’s actually really imaginative and emotionally intelligent and it makes total sense that she’s an artist."
