Shailene Woodley is not a fan of Twilight

Shailene Woodley has slammed hit film series Twilight, accusing producers of sending a damaging message about relationships to its legions of young fans. How could she?!

The actress is set to become a star when her next movie, young adult book adaptation Divergent, hits cinemas in April, but she isn't a fan of all films in that genre... particularly the super successful vampire franchise which kickstarted the whole phenomenon.

She thinks Bella and Edward's relationship gives a damaging message because Bella is unable to cope without her vampire boyfriend around.

Woodley tells Teen Vogue magazine, "Twilight, I'm sorry, is about a very unhealthy, toxic relationship. She falls in love with this guy and the second he leaves her, her life is over and she's going to kill herself! What message are we sending to young people? That is not going to help this world evolve."

While we don't condone Bella's neediness, we're not impressed with Shailene criticising the franchise!
