Sharon Stone Teases Marvel Movie Role

Sharon Stone has just dropped the bombshell that she’s set to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking on The Late Late Show With James Corden (quotes via KTIC Radio), the 58-year old actress broke the news that a Marvel role is in the pipeline for her - which came as a surprise to fellow guest, ‘Captain America: Civil War’ star Sebastian Stan.

However, Stone (who became one of the biggest stars of the 1990s off the back of ‘Basic Instinct’) was tight-lipped on both the role and the movie - but did seem to confirm we should expect little more than a cameo.

“I’m just doing a wee part in a Marvel movie, upcoming, and I can’t tell, because you know, you have to sign confidentiality agreements. But I’m going to do a wee part in a Marvel movie now. That’s it.”

That’s not a great deal to go on, particularly given the sheer number of Marvel movies in the pipeline; nonetheless, let the speculations commence!

Presumably ‘Doctor Strange’ is out as it’s completed principal photography (though reshoots are always a possibility), so could it be the in-production ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?’

The original ‘Guardians’ already cast one actress famed for a old femme fatale role - ‘Fatal Attraction’ star Glenn Close - so might Stone be a good fit for a role in the sequel?

Alternatively, could it be ‘Thor: Ragnarok?’ With her Nordic looks and icy blonde hair, it’s certainly not hard to envisage Stone alongside Chris Hemsworth as an Asgardian.

Stone’s physicality might also have made her a candidate for ‘Captain Marvel’ in her younger years - so might she have some other role to play in that one?

Or how about this: given that Stone’s most famous role was alongside Michael Douglas in ‘Basic Instinct,’ who’s to say she might not reunite with her old co-star on ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp?’ In which case, wouldn’t it make perfect sense for her to appear as the original Wasp, Janet Pym?

And of course, who’s to say what Stone-friendly roles might come up in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ ‘Black Panther,’ the two-volume ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (or whatever they end up officially calling them), or ‘The Inhumans’ (if that gets made after all).

In any instance, we can only keep our fingers crossed that the resulting film turns out a great deal better than Sharon Stone’s last comic book movie: the infamous ‘Catwoman’…
