It’s not often that you’ll hear Ant McPartlin talk about new love Anne-Marie Corbett, so I’m A Celebrity viewers were surprised to hear him name her as his “happy place” during the show’s final.

Hosts Ant and Dec were talking to Jordan North during his last trial of the series, being locked in a case with snakes, and the Radio 1 DJ, known for coping with difficulties by shouting “happy place Turf Moor” asked the lads what their happy place was.

McPartlin, looking emotional, said: “At home with my girlfriend and the kids.”

His co-host and fellow Newcastle United fan Declan Donnelly, who has a daughter with wife Ali Astall, said: “Mine wouldn’t be too dissimilar to yours (Jordan), St James Park.”

McPartlin, 45, split from wife of 12 years Lisa Armstrong in early 2018 and began dating his former personal assistant Corbett a couple of months later.

She had split with her husband in late 2017 and has two daughters from their marriage.

He rarely talks about their relationship but the pair are often photographed walking their dogs together.

North faced his greatest fear in the I’m A Celebrity trial after having had a meltdown over snakes early in the series.

He shared that he used the tactic of thinking of his happy place - Burnley football ground Turf Moor - to help him zone out of difficult tasks.

As well as chanting “happy place Turf Moor” during his final trial, North, who finished as the series runner up, made small talk with Ant and Dec by asking what their plans were for Christmas and whether they would spend it together.

Donnelly, 45, revealed: “No, we never have. We tend to just spend it with family.”

Giovanna Fletcher won I’m A Celebrity and became the first ever Queen of the Castle as the series abandoned its usual Australian jungle home for Gwrych Castle in Wales.
