Shia LaBeouf abandons his Trump protest following gunshots
Shia LaBeouf was forced to temporarily abandon his Donald Trump protest in New Mexico after gunshots were heard near the site in Albuquerque.
Tweeting from his own account, he explained that safety is ‘paramount’ during the protest, called #HEWILLNOTDIVIDEUS.
We have taken the stream down after shots were reported in the area. The safety of everybody participating in our project is paramount.

As the time of publishing, the protest remained suspended.
LaBeouf started the live-streamed protest on January 20, the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration as president, a group of others joining him chanting the slogan ‘he will not divide us’.

But it’s not been without its controversies. LaBeouf was arrested, but later released, following an altercation with a man described as a ‘neo-nazi’, who turned up to troll the protest.
Initially, it was held outside the Museum of the Moving Image in New York, and aimed to broadcast 24 hours a day for the duration of Trump’s tenure as president.
It moved to a site opposite the El Rey Theatre in Albuquerque earlier this month.
