Shia LaBeouf got into a scuffle in a south London student pub, after someone stole his hat.

Far from the swanky bars of the west end, LaBeouf was hanging out at the Hobgoblin pub in New Cross with a co-star from the forthcoming Lars von Trier film 'Nymphomaniac', actress and model Mia Goth.

After happily posing with fans for photos and having drinks, a student stole his hat, a souvenir from Laos, and refused to give it back, after which a scuffle broke out.

A source told The Sun that 'the scrap all started when this guy took his hat. I think he was just joking, but Shia didn’t like it'.

“The guy just took it off him and wouldn’t give it back. He tried to get it back and they ended up tussling. It was handbags really. But it shows that even Hollywood stars can’t avoid grief down this way,” the source added.

Landlord Mark Harris confirmed that the star had been drinking in his pub, adding that Goth's mother is a local.

“Her mum lives just down the road,” he said. “She came down to see her mum and he tagged along. He did get a bit frustrated and there was a bit of a scuffle.”

The controversial 'Nymphomaniac', which also stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman and Stellan Skarsgard, features LaBeouf having 'unsimulated' sex and is due out some time in 2013.
