Simon Pegg is to step up and work with his idols Monty Python on their forthcoming sci-fi CGI comedy 'Absolutely Anything'.

Terry Jones will be directing – and appearing – in the movie, which also features the voices of former Python chums John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and another chap called Robin Williams.

Said Pegg, who having starred in both 'Star Trek' movies is now on chatting terms with sci-fi, said he was pretty chuffed to be involved.

“As someone whose love of comedy was hugely informed by Monty Python, the chance to work with Terry was a gift,” he said.

“Meeting your heroes is one thing - working with them is something else.”

Pegg will play Neil, a teacher who is gifted special powers by the visiting aliens, played by the Python team.

Robin Williams, meanwhile, will voice Neil's dog.

Added Jones: “Simon Pegg is the absolutely perfect Neil.”

Filming will begin in the Spring, ahead of the Monty Python team's reunion stage show at the O2 in London, announced last month and now entirely sold out.
