Cartoon fans... assemble! The Simpsons' Matt Selman has teased what to expect in the upcoming Marvel-related episode based on superhero hit Avengers: Endgame.

Taking to his personal Twitter, the executive producer shared a poster for the instalment – which is entitled The Simpsons: Bart the Bad Guy – created by animator Julius Preite.

In the accompanying tweet, he revealed that the eagerly anticipated special is set to air on Sunday March 1 at 8pm on Fox.

In the artwork, Bart can be seen frowning at an unseen threat while his mother Marge and sister Lisa cower on what look to be cinema seats in the forefront. Homer, however, seems to be being his typical lazy self – fast asleep and drooling on his white shirt.

Elsewhere in the pic, there's a bunch of skeleton-like bat creatures, two grinning movie executives (who are voiced in the episode by Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo), a muscly whale, a tree woman, a silver Iron Man-style robot and a dude that looks just like big screen big bad Thanos.

He even has a purple, wrinkly chin, goes by Chinnos and will be brought to life by Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

According to TVLine, the episode will see Bart stumble across a not-yet-released sequel to the hugely popular Vindicator superhero.

Before long, he realises the power he can now wield over fans and starts using the threat of spoilers to get them to do his bidding, but when the aforementioned execs catch wind of Bart's schemes, they set out to stop him leaking the plot entirely.

The Simpsons airs on FOX in the US, and on Sky One in the UK.
