Sir David Jason has reprised his role as Del Boy for a new second hand car comedy skit.

The TV veteran, 84, will star as his ‘Only Fools and Horses’ wheeler-dealer for the new series of motoring show Car SOS – which will make the first time he has gone back to the part for years.

Broadcaster Tim Shaw, 49, told the Daily Star: “David was a special guest on an episode and I managed to persuade him to do Del Boy again.

“It was one of the highlights of my life. When was the last time we saw David playing Del Boy? I can’t remember. So it was absolutely surreal.”

The Star reported the sketch will see Del help with the restoration of a Datsun 240k Skyline vehicle, with Tim adding: “I told David I had an idea for a sketch and he said, ‘Oh, you want some lovely jubbly? Go on then, let’s give it a pop.’ “He dropped straight into it. The next thing he’s Del Boy and he’s reading a newspaper and he’s selling some car parts on eBay.”

Tim’s co-host Fuzz Townshend, 59, added: “David was an absolute pro.”

Del’s sketch will be part of the new series of ‘Car SOS’, which will be shown on 7 March on National Geographic.

In 2014, Sir David and his ‘Only Fools’ co-star Nicholas Lyndhurst, 62, returned as Del and Rodney for a Comic Relief ‘Only Fools and Horses’ special featuring David Beckham.

The script included previously unused material written by John Sullivan, who created and wrote every ‘Only Fools’ episode before his death in 2011.

The 10-minute mini-episode of the BBC sitcom showed Del and Rodney struggling to sell David Beckham underwear until they meet the former footballer in a café and he gives Rodders tips on how to sell them.

It ended with Del and Rodney saying “What a plonker!” to David as he recreates Del’s iconic ‘falling through the bar’ scene when he goes to lean back on a market cart but it’s moved it away while he isn’t looking and he crashes to the ground.
