Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Confirmed For 2018

Get ready to roll… there’s a Sonic The Hedgehog movie in the offing.

Sony Pictures has confirmed that its joining with video game legends Sega to make a ‘live-action and animation hybrid’.

It’s due for 2018.

Said Sega president Hajime Satomi: “Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid Sonic The Hedgehog movie scheduled for release in 2018.

“Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved.”

It’s thought that Sega has a 25th anniversary edition of the game planned too.

It’s not the first time that Sonic has transcended the world of the video game, with the first Sonic animation series appearing back in 1993.

Various other iterations emerged over the years, including 'Sonic Underground’, anime series 'Sonic X’ and most recently 'Sonic Boom’ in 2014.

Sonic, and his sidekick Tails the fox, also made a brief cameo in Disney’s 'Wreck-It Ralph’.
