Sony Pictures Classics to Bow ‘Foxcatcher’ on Nov. 14

After being slotted to premiere next month in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, Sony Pictures Classics has dated Bennett Miller’s “Foxcatcher” for a Nov. 14 Stateside release.

The film stars Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo as real-life brothers Mark and Dave Schultz, who were Olympic wrestling champions, along with Steve Carell as the heir to the DuPont chemical fortune, John du Pont. Pic co-stars Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller and Anthony Michael Hall.

Originally, “Foxcatcher” was slated to bow in 2013 as part of the AFI Festival, though the film was bumped to give Miller more time to finish.

The pic’s fall platform release positions it squarely within the awards season glut.

“Foxcatcher” is Miller’s second film to go through Sony Classics after 2005′s “Capote,” which garnered Oscar nominations for picture and director and won best actor for the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
