As if Sony wasn’t busy enough with plans for a raft of new comic book movies, it’s now plotting a feature with a new take on the superhero.

It’s set to bring Faith to the big screen, the plus-sized super-heroine from Valiant Comics.

In a post-modern twist, Faith Herbert, aka Zephyr, first appeared in 1992, as comic-book loving teenager obsessed with sci-fi, the TV shows of Joss Whedon and general nerd fandom.

However, after she is approached by a group of X-Men-esque outcast teens with super powers, the Harbingers, her own dormant abilities of flight and telekinesis are realised.

Deadline has confirmed Sony’s plans, with American Gods writer Maria Melnik set to pen the script.

It’s not the only Valiant Comics property set to come to the screen either.

Bloodshot, starring Vin Diesel, is hoped to become the first in a new franchise, with the Fast & Furious star appearing alongside Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan and Toby Kebbell.

It’s also thought a Harbinger movie is also in the pipeline too.

Meanwhile, Sony is also forging ahead with Spider-Man universe spin-offs Venom, starring Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed, and Morbius, with Jared Leto, announced just this week.
