‘Spectre’ Bonding With Imax In November

The 24th James Bond film Spectre from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures will be released in Imax when it hits theaters worldwide on November 6.

The previous 007 pic Skyfall also received the Imax treatment and grossed $12.75M

during its opening weekend in 320 U.S./Canada Imax hubs, which repped 14% of its $88.4M opening weekend. At that time, the actioner’s $40K theater average marked Imax’s best nonsummer opening. Overseas at 127 venues, Skyfall bowed in late October prior to its domestic November 2012 release and made $2.7M in its first weekend. It ending up cuming $1.11B worldwide, making it Sony’s top-grossing film ever and No. 9 all-time overall.

Skyfall director Sam Mendes is behind the camera again for Spectre, with star Daniel Craig marking his fourth portrayal of the iconic British spy. Joining Craig are Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny and Ben Whishaw as Q, along with new castmembers including Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux. Spectre is produced by Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, from a script by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade. Look for its first trailer to arrive later today.

Last weekend, Lionsgate’s Insurgent was also released in Imax, grossing $3.6M at 356 theaters stateside, repping 7% of its $52.26M opening.
