Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has cast Deadpool star Karan Soni in a voice role.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Soni is set to play Pavitr Prabhakar (aka Spider-Man India), yet another version of Spider-Man from an alternate universe.

Soni is best known for his role as Deadpool's (Ryan Reynolds) friend and cab driver Dopinder in Deadpool and Deadpool 2.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to follow on from its predecessor Into the Spider-Verse's post-credits scene. It will pick up after Oscar Isaac's Miguel O'Hara (aka Spider-Man 2099) travels across dimensions to confront protagonist Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore).

The upcoming sequel's official synopsis reads: "Miles Morales returns for an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered."

Moore is set to return as Miles Morales for the multiverse adventure. He'll be joined by Hailee Steinfeld, who will reprise her voice role as Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Woman.

And about that new, powerful villain? — he's known as the Spot (real name: Jonathan Ohnn) and is covered in inter-dimensional portals. Fargo actor (and Wes Anderson film regular) Jason Schwartzman will voice the Spot in the film.
