Spider-Man and Alien stars team up for Manchester-set rom-com
If next year's release of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy didn't tell you that British rom-coms were back, we have another new one coming our way from Focus Features and Working Title.
Angourie Rice – who you might know from the MCU Spider-Man trilogy or the Mean Girls reboot – is teaming up with Alien: Romulus star Spike Fearn for Manchester-set rom-com CC: Emily.
Directed by Alicia MacDonald and written by Rachel Hirons, the movie follows a lovesick musician (Fearn) who is given the wrong number for his dream girl.
He then teams up with a driven psychology student (Rice) to find her, sparking a hilarious campus-wide frenzy that tests their own hearts and ambitions along the way. Perhaps we're wrong, but we have a feeling the musician's dream girl might be someone else...

The filmmakers have described CC: Emily as a "love-letter to Manchester", and the rom-com has now started filming mainly on location in and around Manchester.
It marks Alicia MacDonald's feature directorial debut, having worked on TV shows including Pure, Flack and The Outlaws.
CC: Emily is produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title and Olivier Kaempfet for Parkville Pictures. Focus has worldwide rights on the movie, while Universal Pictures International will handle international distribution.
A release date for CC: Emily has yet to be confirmed.

As well as being on the big screen currently in Alien: Romulus, Fearn has recently wrapped production on Ella McCay alongside Emma Mackey, Jack Lowden, Ayo Edebiri, Jamie Lee Curtis and Woody Harrelson.
Earlier this year, Rice spoke to Digital Spy about how the Mean Girls reboot was more of a "reimagining" than a remake.
"We're not taking anything away from the versions of Mean Girls that already exist. It's an addition," she explained. "I also think that the main thing is that we all signed on to do this because we love Mean Girls so much."
CC: Emily does not yet have a release date.
