Spider-Man Comic Includes The Thick Of It Stars On December Cover

Now here’s a crossover we never saw happening, the December issue of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ comic features on its cover a few surprising cameos from hit BBC comedy 'The Thick Of It’.

The comic cover was picked up by the show’s creator Armando Iannucci and star Chris Addison and shared on Twitter, much to the bemusement and amusement of their followers.

Drawn by Alex Ross, the cover depicts Spider-Man being attacked and thrown into the side of a red London bus, indicating that issue five of the upcoming rebooted seires takes place in the UK.

The bus’s passengers are made up of stars from Iannucci’s political comedy, which ran from 2005 to 2012. Passengers include Addison, James Smith, Joanna Scanlan and star Peter Capaldi, who played foul-mouthed spin-doctor Malcolm Tucker.

Capaldi is now better known for playing the 12th Doctor in 'Doctor Who’, a role to which he returns this Saturday (19 September).

Ross is clearly a fan of the series to have included them on the cover, something sort of backed up by a recent tweet from the comics’ writer Dan Slott, who wrote about the series, which airs on BBC America across the pond.

The new 'Amazing Spider-Man’ series will relaunch later this year as part of Marvel’s All-New All-Different range, following on from the events of this summer’s 'Secret Wars’ event - which will reset the Marvel universe’s continuity.

It will follow an adult Peter Parker, now running a global business empire called Parker Industries and Miles Morales - the latest the most popular character to carry the Spider-Man moniker.
