If you didn’t see Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse when it was released at the end of 2018 then not only did you miss one of the finest superhero movies ever made, you also skipped arguably the finest ever Spider-Man movie, too.
As well as making over $375 million at the box office and receiving critical acclaim, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse also collected the Best Animated Feature Academy Award, too.
So it is little surprise then that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 has now been confirmed by Sony, who have also revealed that the film will be released on April 8, 2022.

This led to the assumption that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2 would be confirmed, which duly followed on Friday afternoon.
Directors Bob Perischetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman weren’t shy about their future plans for the Spider-Verse when the original film was released.
A few weeks ahead of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse hitting cinemas, Sony admitted that a follow-up and several spin-offs were in various stages of development because of the buzz surrounding the film.
This included a Spider-Woman story, which would focus on Gwen Stacey, while John Mulaney also registered his interest in a Spider-Ham film, and there was even some chatter about a Spider-Verse television series, too. That actually seems a little more likely after Spider-Verse’s Phil Lord and his writing partner Chris Miller signed a five-year deal with Sony Pictures TV.
