Star Trek 2’s bizarre tie-in with insurance giant

Sci-fi sequel signs deal with Esurance

US car insurance giant Esurance has completed a deal allowing it to distribute exclusive content for J.J. Abrams upcoming ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, in return for ‘likes’ on the company’s Facebook page.

The deal means that if you’re willing to put up with the company’s ads on your news feed, you’ll also get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the film, wallpaper and screensaver downloads, plus access to a ‘transform-yourself-into-a-Vulcan’ game (we’re guessing it just points your ears a bit).
