New Star Trek posters touch down

Frenetic new images for the anticipated sequel from JJ Abrams

A raft of dramatic new posters for 'Star Trek Into Darkness' have landed online.

The first two, which appear to be from the Spanish language Argentinian release of JJ Abrams' anticipated sequel, show Benedict Cumberbatch's villainous John Harrison and Chris Pine's James Tiberius Kirk looking a little frantic.

The second two, with English-language graphics, show Zoe Saldana's Uhuru all windswept and Zachary Quinto's Spock basking in a volcano.

The new images precede another new trailer, which is due tomorrow in the US, surely the last peek at the film before it hits cinemas on May 9.

It also stars Karl Urban reprising Bones, John Cho as Sulu, Simin Pegg as Scotty, Alice Eve as Carol Marcus, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, Peter Weller as Admiral Marcus, Carol Marcus's father and Bruce Greenwood as Rear Admiral Christopher Pike.
