Star Wars 7 Villain Thinks He’s Justified

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ villain Kylo Ren probably doesn’t consider himself to be the bad guy… but the rest of the galaxy probably wouldn’t agree.

During an interview with Empire Magazine, ‘Star Wars 7’ actor Adam Driver revealed the rather zealous motivations of the film’s main villain – Kylo Ren.

“When they think of their actions as morally justified, it makes them dangerous and unpredictable,” he explained. “There’s no level they won’t go to, to accomplish what they’re after. I never thought of the character as an evil person.”

And as an added bonus, Empire has unveiled another look at the imposing Kylo Ren… this time, flanked by two of his First Order Stormtroopers.

Of course, we’ve already seen hints towards Kylo Ren’s motivation… after all, the first full trailer for ‘The Force Awakens’ featured the mysterious villain staring ominously at the helm of Darth Vader while speaking rhetorically to the long-dead Sith Lord.

“Nothing will stand in our way,” he says. “I will finish what you started.”

And with the newest ‘Star Wars’ baddie seeming aiming to follow Darth Vader’s example, it’s perhaps fitting that another Death Star is involved.

“The movie explains the origins of the mask and where it’s from,” said director J.J. Abrams in a previous interview. “But the design was meant to be a nod to the Vader mask. [Kylo Ren] is well aware of what’s come before, and that’s very much a part of the story of the film.”

We already know that Kylo Ren is actually part of a group known as the Knights of Ren… and it’s starting to sound as though the Knights of Ren might even be a religious order, who follow the old, Dark Side ways.

Either way, it looks as though Kylo Ren is seeking to finish the Empire’s work… and he’s going to great lengths to do so.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ heads to cinemas on 17 December 2015.
