Kelly Marie Tran joined ‘Star Wars 8’ back last year…
And now we know who she’s playing.
Appearing at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, the young Asian-American actress was confirmed to be joining ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’… and we were finally given some details about who she’ll be playing.
“My character’s name is Rose,” she revealed. “She’s part of the Resistance, and she works in maintenance. I can’t wait for you to meet her.”
Essentially, Rose is a Resistance mechanic… and it sounds as though she’ll be getting caught up in an adventure with Finn. Interesting, considering that Finn also carried out the same kind of grunt-work before he jumped ship from the First Order.
And director Rian Johnson even suggested the two could be paired up…
“This possibility that any of us could step up and become a hero, that’s where Rose comes from,” said Johnson. He explained that Luke Skywalker and Rey are cut from similar cloth – average Joes who stepped up to become legends. “She’s not a soldier, she’s not looking to be a hero. But she gets pulled into a very big adventure with Finn.”
Quite what that means remains to be seen… and despite the first trailer for Star Wars 8 being revealed a short while ago, we’re yet to see Rose in action.
Still, it sounds as though she could be a very interesting addition to ‘The Last Jedi’.
And she could be a great match for Finn.
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.
Rian Johnson both wrote and directed the movie.
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ heads to cinemas on 15 December 2017.
