Star Wars Actor John Boyega Joins Pacific Rim 2
‘Pacific Rim 2’ has found its leading man – none other than John Boyega.
According to Deadline, the 24-year-old British actor has joined the upcoming ‘Pacific Rim’ sequel… and will be leading the charge on those pesky Kaiju.
“Legendary Pictures has set Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega for the lead role for the second instalment of its Pacific Rim franchise.”

And Boyega himself even confirmed the news via Twitter.
There’s even some idea of who John Boyega will be playing.
“Boyega will play the son of the character played by Idris Elba in the del Toro-directed original film,” they revealed. And for fans of the first movie, that’s the son of Commanding Officer Stacker Pentecost.
‘Pacific Rim 2’ is said to follow the origins of the Kaiju – a race of gigantic monsters from another dimension who finds themselves on Earth after crossing a breach in the Pacific Rim.
Of course, humanity unites to tackle this threat by building enormous mecha robots called Jaegers… and it’s likely that we’ll see John Boyega in the thick of things as he follows in Elba’s footsteps.
“Steven S. DeKnight is directing the film, which will begin production in the fourth quarter of this year, based on the world created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham.”
Will any of the original cast return for ‘Pacific Rim 2’?
Considering that Rinko Kikuchi plays Mako Mori – the adopted daughter of Idris Elba’s character – it would certainly make sense for the Japanese actress to return.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
