Star Wars: Alden Ehrenreich Is Han Solo

It’s official – Alden Ehrenreich will star in the Han Solo spin-off.

Announced during the Future Filmmakers panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe, 26-year-old Alden Ehrenreich will star as Han Solo in the untitled ‘Star Wars’ spin-off movie.

“This is the best kept secret in Hollywood,” said Pablo Hidalgo with his tongue firmly in cheek. After all, the rumours have been around for many months. “The identity of [Han Solo] is… Alden Ehrenreich.”

Of course, Ehrenreich was brought out onto the stage for a quick chat with the fans… and immediately you get the sense that Lord and Miller have cast exactly the right man for the role.

But who is Alden Ehrenreich?

Before the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off, he was perhaps best known for the role of Ethan in ‘Beautiful Creatures’ and he made his feature film debut in the Francis Ford Coppola film, ‘Tetro’.

But he’s also a bit of a ‘Star Wars’ fan…

“I auditioned for about six months,” he said. “But the coolest part of that audition process was that I went on the Falcon. And that is, I mean… it’s like, it’s pretty unbelievable. You get there and you have, as a kid, this character that you make believe, and you imagine what it would be like.”

Alden Ehrenreich stars as the young Han Solo. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will direct, based on a screenplay by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan,

The Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ spin-off heads to cinemas on 25 May 2018.
