Star Wars Barbie dolls of Rey, Chewbacca and more unveiled by Mattel
A new line of Star Wars Barbie dolls has been unveiled, in time to mark Star Wars Day on 4 May.
Mattel released images of the dolls on Monday morning in the US.
The four new items are each modelled after Rey, C-3PO, Chewbacca, and a Stormtrooper.
“Inspired by the films’ original concept art, the collection re-imagines iconic characters through a high-fashion filter,” reads a description published by Mattel on social media.
The Rey doll is dressed in a flowy white gown reminiscent of Daisy Ridley’s character’s outfit in the film series.
The C-3PO doll comes in a golden, sequined dress which calls to mind the iconic droid.
As for the Chewbacca doll, her outfit – of course – centres around fur, with a bulky coat and fuzzy accessories.
The Stormtrooper doll, unlike her on-screen counterparts, doesn’t wear a helmet, but rather has a straight white bob with a fringe as well as goggles. Her outfit – a futuristic white ensemble with puffy sleeves – is a fashionable take on the Stormtroopers’ uniform.
All four dolls are marketed towards adult collectors. Each costs $100 except for the Chewbacca doll, which has a $150 price tag.
They are available for pre-orders online and will be ready to ship in June (on 1 June for the Rey and Stormtrooper dolls; 5 June for the Chewbacca version, and 15 June for the C-3PO model).

The new dolls come as an expansion of Mattel’s Star Wars x Barbie line, which already included dolls modelled after Princess Leia, R2D2, and Darth Vader.
Those dolls, unveiled last year, remain available for purchase online.
